Introduction to Shanghai Lab

This is the website and blog of Urban Lab (Shanghai). It is a 1-credit, academic lab course that is attached to Comparative Urban Politics and Policy (POLI 464 or POLI 362).  The inaugural Shanghai Lab was offered in Spring 2014. It examined the dynamics of urban politics and policy a quintessential global city–Shanghai. In addition to social, political, and economic issues, in Spring 2014 POLI/ASIA 347 focused on public media, media management, history and culture. Weekly class sessions include lectures, case studies, guest lecturers, &  group work on research projects. The lab also features an 8-day field research trip to Shanghai during Spring Break.

In Spring 2015, the “parent” course for  POLI/ASIA 347 will be POLI 362Comparative Urban Politics and Policy.  To enroll in the Shanghai Lab course (Poli 347) you must be registered for the parent course. In previous years, this course was POLI 464. Note however, that only the number (not the content) has changed.
